Hello, I'm Ash Cox (they/them) aka Commander Ash Tronomy. I’m artivist, creative access producer and consultant, from Salford, focusing on work that is reflective of my lived experience being a disabled, queer, working-class arts and science nerd.
I am a white, tall, chubby person in my late 30s, with black and green hair and piercings. In the photo on this page, I am wearing clear-framed glasses, a white short-sleeved shirt, patterned with sporadic small black stars. Behind me are water colour graphics of nebulas, planets and stars, in blues, purples, greens and blacks.
Access and Disability Justice are a huge part of my personal and professional identity. I’m interested in the intersection of live performance, science and access and how provisions can be integrated creatively from the beginning processes to enrich how people experience making and interacting with art.
The development of my artistic practice has been supported by Unlimited, Graeae (Beyond: Octagon Theatre), Dibby Theatre and hÅb. I am currently nearing the end of a year of R&D on Integrated Creative Access funded by Arts Council England, DYCP grant.
As creative access and inclusion producer, facilitator and consultant, I have worked with organisations such as Dibby Theatre, Factory International, Marshmallow Laser Feast, Art with Heart, Cinema for All and In Place of War.
I am also a trustee at 20 Stories High.
