Hello, I'm Ash Cox (they/them). I'm an artivist (artist + activist), creative access producer, consultant, and facilitator from Salford, focusing on work that reflects my lived experience being a disabled, queer, working-class arts and science nerd.
I am a white, tall, chubby person in my late 30s, with black and green hair and piercings. In the photo on this page, I am wearing clear-framed glasses, a white short-sleeved shirt, patterned with sporadic small black stars. Behind me are watercolour graphics of nebulae, planets and stars, in blues, purples, greens and blacks.
Accessibility and Disability Justice (with the intersection of anti-racism, LGBTQ+ inclusion and class) are central to my personal and professional identity. My work explores how we can converge live performance, science, and creatively integrated access to transform how people make and experience art.
I’m experienced in working with artists and organisations on accessibility and inclusion, visitor experience, audience development, digital engagement, marketing, facilitation, outreach, dramaturgy, project management and producing.
I have worked with organisations such as Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, Dibby Theatre, Culture Warrington, Factory International, Marshmallow Laser Feast, Art with Heart, Contact, The Lowry, The University of Salford and In Place of War. Ash is also a trustee at 20 Stories High.
The development of my artistic practice has been supported by Unlimited, Graeae (Beyond: Octagon Theatre), Dibby Theatre and hÅb. I have just completed a year of R&D on Integrated Creative Access, funded by Arts Council England, DYCP grant.
